Apply to VISTA's Elementary Science Institute!

Applications for our summer 2015 professional development program for elementary teachers are now open!

VISTA’s Elementary Science Institute gives 4th – 6th grade teachers the opportunity to improve their science teaching skills through free professional development. Participants receive a $3,000 stipend, paid travel expenses, and $1,000 toward classroom supplies.

Teachers who have attended the Institute report an increase in their understanding of and confidence in problem-based science instruction that encourages hands-on exploration and inquiry and adheres to the nature of science. And their students love it!

But don't take our word for it, check out past stories directly from the educators who have participated in the Institute, like 5th grade teacher Crystal Meade, fourth grade teacher Mary Ann Settlemyer, and Richmond area teacher Kimberly Bender.

The Institute will be held this summer at George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth University, the College of William & Mary, and Virginia Tech. Applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply today!
